As we celebrate Dental Hygiene Week, we are shining a spotlight on one of our dedicated dental hygienists, Dominique Everette. We had the pleasure to talk with Dominique about her career journey as a dental hygienist, as well as her passion for patient care. Here is a glimpse into her story:
How long have you been a hygienist and what drew you to the profession?
I’ve been a dental hygienist for almost 11 years. What drew me to this profession is the flexibility that the job provides. I am a mother and being available for my family during holidays, weekends, and some school events is very important to me.
What is your favorite aspect about your job as a dental professional?
The patients!!! I enjoy providing a space for my patients to feel comfortable, welcome, and heard. We laugh, talk, and each patient is provided an individualized dental experience. It is very important that I provide a great experience for every patient all while educating them on proper dental care.
Tell us about your personal interests or hobbies outside of work!
My interests and hobbies outside of work consist of reading and learning about herbs in hopes of becoming an herbalist one day. I also enjoy cooking, spending time with my children/family, and gardening.
What is something you wished people understood about hygiene or dental?
I wish more people knew just how amazing being a dental hygienist is. It’s a career that is a hidden gem!! I also wish more people understood the importance of having good home care and how poor home care can negatively impact other parts of the body.
Any additional fun facts about yourself?
I am getting married soon. My wedding is just short of 2 weeks away!!!
Dominique brings not just expertise but a whole lot of heart to her role as a dental hygienist. From providing personalized dental experiences to sharing her expertise on proper oral hygiene, she goes above and beyond to ensure every visit is a memorable one. As she gears up to say “I do” in just a couple of weeks, let’s raise our toothbrushes in a toast to her and her upcoming nuptials.
